Welcome and support

Open Monday to Friday, Maison de la Gare's welcome center plays a key role in providing a safe haven and essential services to more than 500 children each month. Each year, it receives approximately 30.000 visits from children living in more than 120 daaras. distributed throughout Saint-Louis. This regular flow testifies to the deep trust placed in us by marabouts, families and the children themselves to meet their basic needs.

In a welcoming and secure environment, children benefit from facilities designed for their comfort, well-being, and dignity. Modern showers and toilets offer good hygiene conditions, lacking in their daily lives. A dedicated space allows them to rest, play, and participate in sports, recreational, and artistic activities, essential to their physical, mental, and emotional development. A television room also offers them moments of relaxation while exposing them to educational and informative content, promoting their openness to the world.

We strive to meet their needs by regularly distributing clean, suitable clothing, reinforcing their comfort and self-esteem. Every evening, balanced and nutritious meals are prepared and served at the center. This food distribution not only meets the children's nutritional needs, but also offers them a respite from daily begging. This lets them participate fully in our activities and be supported on their journey to a better life.

Through its varied and complementary programs, Maison de la Gare strives to meet the immediate needs of children while providing them with a stable and caring environment. Our commitment is to restore their fundamental rights, promote their development, and open opportunities for a more dignified and hopeful future.
