Medical care and hygiene

The center of Maison de la Gare has a fully functional infirmary, at the heart of our care and hygiene program. This facility plays a vital role in the health and well-being of talibé children. Every day, we provide essential medical care, treating cuts, infections, skin diseases, respiratory problems, and many other common conditions related to their precarious living conditions. More than 400 children receive appropriate treatment each month, delivered with professionalism and kindness. When cases require more advanced care, we provide hospital care for the child, guaranteeing them specialized monitoring and a better quality of life.
Our commitment extends beyond medical care; hygiene is also central to our work. To meet the children's basic needs, we regularly provide them with toothbrushes, soap, toothpaste, and other essentials. The center has modern toilets and showers, accessible at all times, allowing them to maintain their cleanliness and dignity. Buckets and dedicated spaces are provided for washing their clothes, promoting independence and personal grooming. These simple gestures, inaccessible in their daaras, have a huge impact on their overall health and well-being.
Our work extends beyond the center. Several times a week, our health and hygiene team visits daaras to provide on-site medical care. These visits allow us to treat children in their usual environment and to prevent infections before they become serious. We also use these visits to educate Quranic teachers and children about the importance of hygiene—handwashing, clean living spaces, and the prevention of parasites and skin diseases.
We have conducted hundreds of visits to various daaras, reaching thousands of children. This outreach strengthens our health impact while promoting a better understanding of health issues.
Through this daily care, Maison de la Gare strives to ensure that every child has a fundamental right: to live in decent health and hygiene conditions. Offering soap, a clean shower, medical care, or clean clothing is much more than a service. It is an act of dignity, respect, and love.
