Microfinance

Our microfinance program is operated in partnership with Friends of SenegalOur goal is to serve as a vehicle for our borrowers' success. The driving force is their passion and commitment in their pursuit of a better and sustainable future for themselves, their families, and their communities.

The involvement of older and former talibés in the microfinance program represents the culmination of their empowerment through literacy and personal development. The program prepares them to undertake and develop income-generating activities, a crucial step toward financial independence. Working with them, we can bridge the gap between individual capabilities and community needs, fostering connections and understanding while creating a better world for the future.

As a microfinance program volunteer, you will be an integral part of this process. With your skills and knowledge, you can help change the future of our beneficiaries.

You will be involved in every step of the microfinance program, including:

  • interviews with potential borrowers
  • teaching business skills,
  • meetings with borrowers in their current or planned businesses,
  • collection of loan repayments,
  • organization of graduation ceremonies,
  • distribution of loans,
  • and much more.

You will work with prospective borrowers to develop viable project proposals, and will provide ongoing support including evaluation once loans have been granted.

This project offers the opportunity to help older talibés, as well as women and other members of the local community, to create successful and growing businesses that will have a significant impact on the lives of the people you will support.
