Hawa Fofana (United States)
Literacy

For a month, our volunteer Hawa Fofana shared her time, energy, and generosity with the children and the team at Maison de la Gare, leaving a profoundly positive mark on our center.
Committed and always attentive, Hawa enthusiastically dedicated herself to teaching English to the children of the Yaakaar residential program as well as to the older talibés. Thanks to her patience, her caring approach, and her spirit of sharing, she created an environment that encouraged learning, allowing the children to discover a new language while building their self‑confidence.
Beyond its educational commitment, Hawa also provided material support to the children, offering them notebooks and pens, thus helping to improve their learning conditions and encourage their academic progress.
Her contribution extended as well to the healthcare program. She participated in the infirmary's activities, both at the center and during visits to the daaras, offering attentive and compassionate assistance to children in need of care.
Keen to create opportunities for sharing, Hawa also organized a ndogou (a traditional meal) with all the staff. This convivial moment, marked by solidarity and fellowship, strengthened the bonds within the team and remains a fond memory of her stay.
Always smiling, available and deeply committed, Hawa was able to quickly integrate into the daily life of Maison de la Gare. Her generosity, kindness and sincere commitment have left a lasting impression on both the children and our entire team.
We warmly thank Hawa for her dedication, generosity, and willingness to use her skills to help the talibé children. Her time at Maison de la Gare will be remembered for precious moments of sharing, solidarity and beautiful human encounters.
We wish Hawa every success in the future and hope to have the pleasure of welcoming her back among us.
